Mark Cuban is no longer the majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, but he wants to stay involved with the team.
In fact, he would like to do more for the Mavericks, but is being held back, according to him.
A new quote from Cuban casts a clear picture of Cuban’s desires and his dissatisfaction with his role in Dallas.
“I fully expected to run basketball. The NBA wouldn’t let me put it in the contract. They took it out, I thought the Adelsons would stick to their word because they didn’t know the first thing about running a team. Someone obviously changed their mind,” Cuban said, via Legion Hoops.

Countless NBA fans were shocked when Cuban sold his stake in the team to the Adelson family.
After being a hands-on owner for years, people expected Cuban to still remain very close to the team and offer his guidance and expertise.
Instead, it sounds like the Adelsons have moved further away from him and he is more of a fan than an advisor.
It would have made sense for the new owners to turn to Cuban because he created a strong relationship with the fanbase and the players and oversaw them achieve great things.
Since his departure, the Mavericks have radically transformed.
He has publicly said he was against the Luka Doncic trade but had no way to stop it from happening.
Instead, he was forced to watch it all unfold, just like millions of other fans.
If Mavericks fans didn’t miss Cuban before, they surely do now that they know he would have gotten in the way of that historic trade.
