The NBA regular season is just about over, and the Western Conference is tighter than ever.
Trevor Lane looked into the math, and found out that Friday night could lead to a wild five-team tie.
The Minnesota Timberwolves won on Thursday night, which means that if the Memphis Grizzlies win on Friday, there will be a tie in the standings between the Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, and Grizzlies.
A Wolves win tonight followed by a Grizzlies win tomorrow could put us on a path for a 5 team tie between MIN, LAC, GSW, DEN, and MEM.
In that scenario, unless I’m wrong and who the hell knows at this point, it would be:
4. MIN
5. LAC
6. GSW
7. DEN
8. MEM— Trevor Lane (@Trevor_Lane) April 11, 2025
The Grizzlies are scheduled to play the Nuggets on Friday night, and that game will hold huge implications.
The Western Conference has been pretty fluid all season long.
Outside of the Oklahoma City Thunder sitting at the top, the rest of the conference has been changing seemingly by the day.
The Thunder and Houston Rockets are number one and two, and the Los Angeles Lakers are currently the third seed, but they could slide down too.
There is still a lot that can change with just a few days to go.
The final several games will be hugely important, and this year’s Play-In Tournament will be more high-stakes than ever before.
This could be good or bad for the teams involved.
After tough competition and having to prove themselves, some of the squads might have more confidence and drive.
They will be fired up and ready to fight.
However, they might also be zapped of all their energy because things are so tough in the West.
No one knows what will happen, but everyone agrees on one thing: NBA fans will be tuning in on Friday night.
